Dave's main research interests are concerned with the decline of traditional news outlets and the changes in the delivery of news brought about by technology and its impact on areas of deprivation - addressing news and digital inequality. This is the main focus of Dave's PhD study - underpinned by political economy of news and community theories.  Subsequent research seeks to explore these themes further and move towards developing  a theory of news poverty / deprivation with the aim of addressing how this can tackled in communities.
