Sarah is a Senior Lecturer in Education and Early Childhood Studies, predominantly teaching on Education and Primary Studies modules, as well as those related to the Education and Special Educational Needs programme. She is module leader for 4215EDSTUD Exploring Inclusive Practice, 4224EDSTUD Holistic Understanding of the Child, 6214EDSTUD Rethinking Neurodiversity and 5200EDSTUD Professional Project Enquiry - which is the 2nd Year placement module across the Education Studies programmes. Sarah is Joint Route Leader for the BA (Hons) Education and Primary Studies degree programme, supporting continuation, completion and progression across the programme. She has pastoral leadership responsibility at Levels four and six for this degree programme. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Sarah's PhD focused on building a holistic model of HE student retention, exploring why students who have considered leaving choose to stay. Her research uses online methods such as IM interviewing and an adapted Q Methodology. She is interested in creative research methods and how research methods can be used in practice to develop reflective practice and collabrative student voice. 

Sarah has over 15 years experience working with children within educational settings. She has worked with a range of age groups from Early Years through to Secondary level, in a number of roles including Play Worker, Room Leader (babies), Teaching Assistant, and Private Tutor. Sarah is a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter and Infant Feeding Supporter.

Sarah has worked as a lecturer in the School of Education at LJMU since 2020 and was also a Graduate Teaching Assistant within the Faculty of Health.
