Carolyn Jackson is a Film and Media Technician with over ten years of experience in Higher Education, providing technical instruction and support in digital broadcasting, media production, and filmmaking. She holds an MA in Filmmaking from The London Film School, a PGCE in Academic Practice, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Carolyn has worked across several HE institutions, including Manchester Metropolitan University, The London Film School, and Liverpool John Moores University, and has built extensive professional networks within the sector.

Her research interests include student engagement with virtual learning environments, ontology of AI in Hollywood cinema, and the use of documentary filmmaking for public engagement and knowledge exchange. In 2023, she presented her contribution to reciprocal learning research at the SATH Conference at LJMU, and has presented at LJMU’s inaugural TechXchange Conference in 2026.

Alongside her academic career, Carolyn has over a decade of freelance experience in the British film and television industry as a Sound Recordist and Video Editor. Her portfolio includes fiction shorts, television and short-form documentaries, and commercial productions, with work broadcast across Europe and the Middle East.
