BIOGRAPHY
I am a Lecturer in Fashion and Communication Technology at the Liverpool School of Art and Creative Industries, where I teach digital fashion design at Levels 5 and 6. I designed the digital strand of the BA Fashion Design curriculum.
I trained as a digital art director and have worked for over a decade across France, the UK, the United States and the Democratic Republic of Congo. My practice runs on CLO3D, Blender, Unreal Engine and Adobe Substance 3D. I also teach on the master's programmes at LISAA Paris and I was artistic director for the Liverpool to Shanghai fashion exchange.
My research asks a fairly narrow question with wide consequences: whose textiles end up in the 3D material libraries the fashion industry now designs with, and on what terms. Congolese traditions are almost entirely absent from them. Kuba raffia exists on Adobe Substance 3D as a single asset, with no cultural documentation attached to it. KIMA 3D is my answer to that gap: a digital material library of Congolese textiles built on prior consent, documented cultural meaning, and revenue returning to the weavers involved. Fieldwork so far has taken place in Kinshasa with the Académie des Beaux-Arts, the Musée National de la RDC, and master weaver Nicolas Shama Kwete.
I am a co-applicant on the Adaptive Thermal Wool System project led by Dr Amanda Mason. I also founded Institut NSAKA in Kinshasa, which delivered the first CLO3D training programme in the DRC in August 2026.
