Laura is a Research Assistant at Liverpool John Moores University working on The Illicit Project UK, an NIHR-funded study which seeks to pilot the implementation of a substance use prevention programme for older adolescents in UK secondary schools. She was also part of the study's adaptation and feasibility stage in 2024.

Laura has also worked on a range of substance use research projects, including an Accelerated Knowledge Transfer project examining co-occurring mental health and substance use needs in young people transitioning from child and adolescent mental health services to adult mental health services, university student drug use, and contributing to research on chemsex and general drug trends for Greater Manchester (GM Trends).

Her research interests centre on substance use, young people, and drug trends. She has experience delivering interventions in schools, particularly for vulnerable young people, with a focus on addressing risky behaviours and reducing associated harms. She also has welfare experience in the night-time economy and festival settings both in the UK and abroad.
