BIOGRAPHY
Subham Mukherjee is a Lecturer in Forensic Biosciences at Liverpool John Moores University, working at the intersection of forensic molecular biology and multi-omics. His research focuses on how biomolecules degrade after death and how this affects forensic interpretation, with the aim of developing more reliable approaches to human identification and post-mortem analysis.
He previously worked as a Research Associate in Forensic-Omics at the University of Central Lancashire, contributing to an NIJ-funded US–UK consortium applying integrated genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to the study of human skeletal remains. His work focused on understanding how pre-analytical processes and environmental factors influence biomolecular preservation and downstream forensic analysis. He continues to collaborate with international partners, including researchers at the University of California, Davis and Sam Houston State University.
Before joining LJMU, he taught at De Montfort University and Keele University, delivering modules across forensic genetics, biology, and crime scene investigation. He completed his PhD at Charles University, Prague, developing molecular tools for species identification and food authentication.
