BIOGRAPHY
I joined Liverpool John Moores University in July 2026 having previously been a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Edge Hill University. I completed my BSc (Hons) in Psychology and MSc in Health Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University from 2010 to 2016. I was awarded PhD in Psychology in 2022 from the University of Liverpool after receiving doctoral funding from the Society of the Study of Addiction which examined the social patterning of alcohol and mental health problems.
Since completing my PhD, I worked as a post-doctoral research associate at Lancaster University working on an Alcohol Change UK funded project looking at the patterning of co-occurring alcohol and mental health problems across ethnic groups in England. I have also led NIHR-funded projects to understand how people from different minoritised ethnic backgrounds who experience co-occurring alcohol and mental health problems can be better supported by health services. Alongside this work, I continue to work on collaborative projects around the treatment pathways for people with co-occurring conditions.
My research includes working closely with people who have lived experience of co-occurring alcohol and mental health problems, healthcare workers and professionals working in the third sector to identify key issues for both the public and staff working in this area. My research involves mixed methods approaches, including large secondary datasets, health records, and qualitative data.
